  • Making a payment: App must be open. Keep the phone close to MobilePay box at checkout when funds are embarked. Validate with a single swipe when the amount shows up for payment in the app. Authenticate with PIN to log in. No need to double authenticate. Money transfers are performed by entering a mobile phone number which is registered in the system

Payment Flows & Technology

  • Merchant perspective: Merchants have to integrate MobilePay into the cash register in order to allow customers to pay at   the POS via Bluetooth and NFC. Once the payment has been made, the funds are then transferred to the merchant’s account, while the amount is deducted from the sender’s credit card

  • Security: The application is protected by a user-selected four-digit personal identification number. (Update to follow – Further information being obtained)

Business Model

  • Strategy: Danske Bank has a double purpose with MobilePay. Firstly, 65% of users are no Danske Bank customers, leading to an increase in brand awareness and new customers acquisitions. Secondly, Danske Bank charges merchants for the use of its services

  • Payee fee: Danske Bank charges merchants a subscription fee and a variable fee for each transaction. The use of MobilePay is free for merchants for the first 3 months

  • Payer fee: No charge for consumer
