30th of April 2019
Press release

Event to showcase real-world case studies to support open banking strategies

30 April 2019Mobey Forum, the global, non-profit industry association empowering banks and other financial institutions to shape the future of digital financial services, today confirms the speaker line up and theme for the fourth annual Mobey Day Toronto, taking place 11 and 12 June 2019 and hosted by Dentons.

Mobey Day Toronto will bring together banks from across Europe and North America to focus on what really matters to them in open banking. Delegates and speakers will share experiences, learnings and vision for creating profitable business models in this new age of banking.

Confirmed speakers include Mastercard, TD Bank, Eika Bank, Scotiabank, Erste Bank, Interac, Kabbage Inc. and more, with further names to be announced over the coming weeks.

“Whether it’s driven by consumer demand, made compulsory by regulation or simply the next stage in the natural evolution of the industry, there is no denying that open banking is coming,” comments Elina Mattila, Executive Director at Mobey Forum. “So, it’s time we moved the conversation away from hypothesising and get real about the strategic options available to banks.

“Following the launch of the Canadian Government’s public consultation, open banking legislation may soon be on the horizon in Canada. Mobey Day Toronto will bring the industry together to explore and address the challenges facing banks. Our event will provide valuable insights and key learnings from leading players in Europe, who have already set out on their open banking journeys, and identify sustainable strategies for monetizing APIs, building partnerships and unlocking profits.”

Elina continues: “Mobey Forum is known for frank discussion, the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of experiences. Mobey Day is the embodiment of that ethos. We believe that those who understand the various options available, as well as the organisational and cultural changes that are needed to make them happen, stand the best chance of establishing open banking leadership.”
